Apple just released iOS 10.2.1, here’s what you need to know
With nearly a month of testing under its belt, iOS 10.2.1 is finally here and
Apple is currently rolling out the update to all compatible devices. The software
update weighs in at a modest 72.2MB in size, and the list of update notes that
Apple has provided along with the download is equally short.
iOS 10.2.1 includes no new user features and really no noticeable changes or tweaks
of any kind, at least on the surface. The update’s release notes indicate that it includes
“bug fixes and improves the security of your iPhone or iPad.”The beta for 10.2.1 has been
available to beta testers for some time, and unlike 10.2, no notable changes surfaced during
its testing phase. However, the same is not expected to be true of iOS 10.3,
which is rumored to include a new "Theatre mode " feature and was said to be slated for
a January 10, 2017, beta release date. That date has come and gone, however, so it’s hard
to know how much stock to put in the rumor as as a whole
Until we find out more about 10.3 we’ll just have to enjoy 10.2.1, which should be available
as an over-the-air update for your iPhone or iPad right now, or in the coming hours.
