Christian apocalypse: This time of punishment is what is written about in the Scriptures. Luke 21:22
All the prophecies of the Bible are obscure and difficult to interpret, especially those that refer to the Christian apocalypse, no one, no matter how wise and knowledgeable, can give a definitive interpretation of the sacred texts. But the truth is that all the prophecies agree on one point, the resolution of the problem of evil in humanity in a certain future in the human history, a problem that began, according to the Bible, with Adam and Eve in paradise, and that at some point must end with the descent of the divine and eternal wisdom among men.
This is why Jesus, during his last days on earth, prophesied while he was in the temple of Jerusalem about the siege of the holy city and its subsequent destruction in the year 70 after Christ by the Roman Empire. And then he continued and mentioned the prophecies of Daniel, to make it clear that these prophecies had not yet concluded.
And so Jesus referred to that new time that must be born among men, a time where men endowed with the divine spirit will live in peace and in communion with the spiritual presence of God on earth, a time that will not come before a moment of great destruction occurs in the world, that is why Jesus in Jerusalem said: "This time of punishment is what is written about in the Scriptures" Luke 21:22.
Destruction will occur, Jesus announced, but it will not be the end of the world but the end of times, this is why these teachings should not lead to fear but to living alert to the signs of the times, that is why Jesus with wisdom also said: "So be alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place and to take your stand in the presence of the Son of man" Luke 21:36.
And this leads to a very important conclusion in Christian eschatology: God's creation, due to the action of sin, has not yet reached its completion and perfection, and this will not happen without great suffering; the faith of many will be tested, some will fail but others will emerge victorious, to bear witness to that kingdom that must come, the Kingdom of God among men.
