ANZAC - George Robert PATERSON

George Robert Paterson

(b. 1891, Christchurch; d. 8 May 1915, Gallipoli)

His military records show he was a driver in the Army Service Corps, ranked Private. He'd enlisted in England during the second half of 1914. By trade he was a marine engineer. Prior to the war he'd also been in the NZ Territorials. He doesn't appear to have married.

His resting place is at the Beach Cemetery, Anzac, Turkey .
Posthumously, in 1967 he was awarded the Gallipoli Medallion.

"This bronze medallion was instituted in 1967 for award to Australian and New Zealand personnel who participated in the Gallipoli campaign in 1915."

There was a small death notice published, on the 28th of May 1915.
