Over the past several decades conspiracy theories abound about Antarctica- everything from underground military bases to ancient aliens whose spacecraft crashed there. And then there are the "treasure hunter theories" that everyone from Captain Kidd to God knows who have used the continent to deposit their stolen booty. Who could have guessed that the answer would be something far more mundane... Something Biblical.

Hitler, a staunch believer in the occult, held a fascination with the place, one never explored until the 20th Century. Since the fall of his Third Reich, his name has become synonymous with evil... How apropos...

Noted Biblical scholar and explorer, John Mayo, famous for his discoveries in the Middle East, got his first clue reading the Gospels. The first, during Christ's sojourn into the desert for 40 days. He was approached by Satan, who after taking Him to a mountaintop, promised Him the kingdoms of the Earth. How, wondered Mayo, could he promise what wasn't already his. His second clue came when Jesus told Pilate: My kingdom is not of this Earth." If not God's kingdom, then who's? The secret lay in Antarctica.

If Hitler and a pantheon of world leaders were so fascinated with the place... there must be something there. With a grant from an American university, Mayo set out on a journey that would change his life forever. He had maps disclosing the locations of Hitler's base as well as the place visited by world leaders.

The cave was bitterly cold when he entered, but as he got deeper the temperature began to rise.

About a quarter mile in he found he no longer needed his parka. He went deeper and deeper when he found a strange phosphorescent glow. When he got closer to the source of the light he found... nothing!

Only ideas... Suddenly images appeared as if from nowhere in his head- not really images as much as realizations... He was being communicated with- 'Who are you'? His mind cried out. He sat and "listened."

'We have many names,' came the reply, 'the Ancient Ones, the Night Gods, the Fallen Angels, the Sons of Cain... We were the ones the Book of Enoch spoke of- we are the rulers of this world... the paths to true power come through us. We are the Gods of this Earth. You have your answers John Mayo- now what will you do with them?'

I think that...

conspiracy theories abound about Antarctica- everything from underground military bases

They actually do have underground military bases in Antarctica, and I think they have weather manipulation and magnetic field tech down there.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. I know that you can't go there, so it's the perfect place to hide something like that. This is fiction, @v4vapid did a writing contest and asked me to enter... I just made this up on the spur of the moment (drawing from my Night Gods series)

Speaking of magnetic fields... in 2009 I was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (the deadliest brain tumors). My friend from college lives in Wisconsin and told me where he lives is the only place on earth where the magnetic field is reversed. I went there in Dec and by July my tumor was gone!

That is a crazy story dude, glad to hear it though. Wisconsin huh? Interesting.

Yeah I got that it was fiction from reading it, I was just chiming in. Peace.

Very good Rich! I've followed this and you had me all the way............ enjoyed! Well done.

Who knows, maybe I'll win the contest!

Interesting! Even if a fraction of that is true it is enough to change how we view history.

Always wondered if Humans started off in antartica when it was tropical.

Excellent read! I guess John Mayo is a real person?

Edit:

Ok, I just saw that the Hellmann's (brand of mayonnaise made of Hell+man) a fictional character.

Wow, I guess it was more convincing than I thought... You're not the first to ask.

Stoked you entered the contest @richq11, great stuff! (I'm upvoting all submissions at a lower percentage, but will be giving out bonus votes later on as well).

I just hope you like the story!

Darn 1000 word limit - this story isn't done! (I hope.) 😃

Thanks... If you go to my blog and look for The Night Gods & The Night Gods II there's about 40 chapters of similar stuff!

You had me, Rich. LOL I'm doing the same contest, and I'm so daft that I didn't realize this was your entry. I thought it was some new revelation I could file in my research box for my story. LOL

That wouldn't be the case. Nice entry!

I was expecting an L. A. Marzulli quote any moment. Do you know him on YouTube? He is a Christian man who researches the Nephilim. He has some interesting stuff.

Good luck in the contest!

Thank you my friend. I hope you win! I do know Mr. Marzulli- I've watched his videos. One guy that commented thought it was real, he asked for sources... he said he couldn't find a Biblical scholar named John Mayo!

I saw that. That's good fiction!

I guess (I still hope you win!) Send me a link to your story!

Well, it would be neat to win, but I won't be heartbroken if it doesn't happen. I still have the chance to earn with the post which is cool. I think you should win! Here's my story - https://steemit.com/antarctica/@quietdeluxe/conspiracy-creative-writing-contest-ii-entry-underveil

I hope you will not think less of me for creating an alt account. This account (prowebwriter) is more businessy and I feel like I'm locked into providing value and helpful stuff from this account. So, I created a new one where I can play with fiction and write more kinds of things. I need to exercise my fiction chops anyway.

I don't care how many accounts you have as long as you're not using any to rip people off (and I'm sure you're not). I never win these things, but I guess there's a first time for anything! I'll give you my feedback on your post!

Thanks, Rich!

Really liked your premise. I always love a bit of mysticism.

Then you may like my series The Night Gods... It's a two part series about good and evil.

Thanks for the recommendation! Always good to find new stuff to read, online or in book format.

There's enough on my blog alone to keep you busy for a while- about 34 chapters of the Night Gods II and one coming tomorrow!

Good read. I enjoyed it!

Thank you! Maybe I'll win the contest!

Yeah that'd be cool.

Noce post would be really thankful if you upvoted me thank you
