Anime Rant: Tokyo Ghoul

Ghouls are only able to eat humans, right? But they never mentioned that they could only eat it raw.
Couldn't they just cook the meat and eat it that way. Perfect cover. They can bring lunch with them to school or work and if someone asks why they only eat meat they can say "I love meat". They could blend in with humans so much easier.
Or is it too mainstream?
