Anime: Old vs New fillersteemCreated with Sketch.

in #anime8 years ago

The majority of anime (Japanese cartoons) come from manga (Japanese comics). It's great because those characters you love so much come to life. Manga artists also love this as it makes their manga more popular, and increases revenue. It's a win win that makes everyone happy, but comes with one major flaw. Anime is a lot faster to produce, and catches up to the on-going manga series really quick. Old school vs new school ways on how to do deal with this. Which one is worse?

Old school:
When the anime producers came across this they would make the characters go on their own little adventure. We call this filler. Filler is absolutely horrible! These generic characters show up out of where, have long back story, and end up never seeing again. Sometimes they would confuse every ing and bring back those characters in future filler episodes. The main characters are some how weaker then before. They have no growth what so ever, or they charge up for 3 episodes. cough Dragonball z cough. Naruto has this really bad filler where their in a war for literally 5+ years our time. However to give the anime some slack. The manga artist did his own filler and had them in that war for a literal 3 years our time.

Still filler is absolutely horrible! The majority of people do not like it, so the anime producers have changed to new school. Which potentially is worse.

New school:
The anime producers decided away with filler, and created seasons. They would go for a little. Stop. Let the manga go ahead. Then continue on following the story exactly how the original artist intended. The flow is crisp, and clean. This new style is absolutely amazing! However it comes with one major... major flaw. A flaw that is worse... well... could be worse then filler.

I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but have I told you how much I don't like filler? So what could be worse then filler? New school sounds amazing!

Anime producers need to eat as well. They can't just stop and wait for the manga to get far enough ahead. Thus they take on more projects creating new anime from other manga. Essentially you get no filler, and more variety of shows. "This sounds amazing! How could it possibly be worse then filler?" Well let me tell you. They create so many amazing new shows, that they can't keep up with all shows they make. Leaving you with tons, and tons of anime without an ending...

As much as I hate filler not having an ending is a lot worse. Well in my books at least.

The problem with the new method isn't not knowing the end of the story but the fact you are so addicted and can't help go online and start reading the manga from where you just finished the series.

Then you hardly watch the series even when they are released because you know what is going to happen as you have read it all.

Well that is my biggest weakness.

Anime and manga are addictive drugs

Yeah I totally understand you. Their are definitely times I have done that. I'm still waiting for a few anime though, and I know there is enough manga for a season or 2. The worst though are the light novel anime.

Have you watched the new Attack on Titan series? That comes in seasons made me wait to too long!

Oh man... if you haven't started watching yet then don't. The cliff hangers for season 2 are far too good, and is driving me crazy.

Unfortunately I've started and I am glued, I can't take the cliff hangers I'm telling yah.
