Restaurant to Another World / Isekai Shokudô (2017) [Anime]
Eyoo. Just finished this anime. I haven't played any "visual novels" but this at least sounds like one, it gives a lot of details while describing flavors of food. At first glance at it I thought that it's like a book being read while showing the pictures of it and well it was the whole way through. Though what was strange for me that they used the word "delicious" too much instead of putting more epithets to glorify the taste as "delicious" is just too bland for how they described the taste and the structure of the food.
This anime has a main story that it's in the very back of it, everything you will be shown will give you a lot of questions as for how the plot goes as this story is based on two worlds (sorry for the spoil), one of them is of course in front of the other while the second one is almost not mentioned. I suppose in the second season if they would make one, they could go in more depth about it and more details on why exactly do they have to be combined.
The story goes about a restaurant that has a door popping up in another world, in various locations that are either reached very easily or the ones whom take a lot of effort to find. The door is connected to the restaurant and is working with portal magick, of which origin isn't really told much. The protagonist just knows that it does such a thing, but why it was put a spell on and so on isn't really known. The chef just goes with it and doesn't really care much about it, as what he cares about is just to make people happy with his food. He loves to serve people and make them happy in this way, he loves to see expressions of happiness and excitement on the faces of the customers.
Oh yeah also it offers a glance how all kinds of people and "monsters" connect all together and enjoy themselves near each other all thanks to the pleasure of the taste. Also it gives a background of every customer in the series, which is actually amazing, they make every secondary character a primary one, everyone is important there and has their own story, though not much about the chef.
#Warning to people who are addicted to food also known as foodies, or in general people who get easily triggered by food to get hungry, or overall hungry people xD. This anime will probably trigger your mouth and stomach, so your mouth might become a saliva-fall.
The music, art and story-telling is exquisite here, it offers such a colorful and rich interpretation and so pleasing to see and hear. Though as I mentioned before, the story has holes that some of them get filled in the end of the anime/1st season to give you the overall "oh so that's why", not much of the background but at least one in depth episode on the background.
Maid-chan was really impressed by how the characters were connected with each other (often only known to the watcher, not themselves.)
