Jimi.The.Ginger.Cat's.Blog : The Rescued - Bear
I found out more about animal rescue when Coco started to transform our balcony into a recovery room.
It's basically a large tiled room and has 2 doors. If quarantine is needed, we can keep both the animals inside the house and on the balcony, safe.
Bear is my first rescue animal and the one I will never forget.
He changed my opinion on dogs forever!
By chance, one of Coco's friends saw the post. He was in another city, near us. Strings were pulled and after many phone calls, Bear was brought to a vet here.
The doctors concluded that the dog was savagely beaten with wounds all over the body, 3 broken ribs, broken pelvis, a crushed leg and a shattered hip. He was also malnourished.
I won't show you pictures from the rescue and post-op because they are hard to watch. But they exist as a testimony of human cruelty
It took 4 surgeries and a blood transfusion to save his life. I will tell you, in another post, how blood transfusion works for animals....because Bear's was an adventure in its self.
The dog was hospitalized for more than 2 weeks. An NGO called Sadies Stray Dog Rescue paid for the enormous vet bills and offered to find him the most loving family.
His pelvis was reconstructed and the vets weren't sure if he would recover his right leg, due to nerve damage.
Coco took him in for recovery until adoption. He stayed with us for 2 months. The main wound on his left was left open for several days in order to clean the tissue until the infection disappeared. She had to clean the area a few times day and night.
He was hit so hard he couldn't digest or eat proper. That was a big problem, 'cause the treatment was intensive and he was very underweight.
He was beaten so bad, he didn't trust humans anymore.
Coco spent a lot of time trying to feed him, to encourage Bear to fight. She needed his trust, because once the wound would be stitched, physical therapy would begin. Painful PT, every day, 2 time as day.
Coco carried him outside and held him when he needed to go, did a lot of exercises with him and basically kept him busy.
He stayed on the balcony for almost 2 weeks. It was easier to transport him to the vet every day for antibiotics and treatment. In no time, he was able to stand on his 3 feet and was independent to go outside by himself. After that...we started to hang out around the house and in our garden.
We played together and sometimes take naps together. I comforted him and didn't leave his side.
Just the smartest dog I've met ... and the sweetest.
Bear is a true alpha who always smiles.
Now he is England. He has a home, a yard, a friend cat and a human cub all to himself and the life he deserves.
Learn from Bear and smile even when you're not in the best place.
This 2 last photos were sent by Bear's new human.

Mohammed loved cats and reportedly his favorite cat, Muezza, was a tabby. Legend says that tabby cats have an “M” for Mohammed on top of their heads because Mohammad would often rest his hand on the cat’s head. Thank you for your upvotes. Click The Cat Join The SteemThat Movement!

A female cat is called a queen or a molly.
Cats sleep 16 to 18 hours per day. When cats are asleep, they are still alert to incoming stimuli. If you poke the tail of a sleeping cat, it will respond accordingly.

All cats have three sets of long hairs that are sensitive to pressure - whiskers, eyebrows, and the hairs between their paw pads.
Like birds, cats have a homing ability that uses its biological clock, the angle of the sun, and the Earth's magnetic field. A cat taken far from its home can return to it. But if a cat's owners move far from its home, the cat can't find them.
