BEETLE | KUMBANG
The beetle is a group of insects that form the order Coleoptera koʊli ˈɒptərə/. The word "coleoptera" comes from ancient Greece κολεός, koleos and πτερόν, pteron, which if joining means "wings of berselubung", because most of the beetles two pairs of wings. The couple in front of the wings called elytra. A pair of wings to harden and thicken which can protect a pair of wings behind it and also protects the back of the body of the beetle
Order Coleoptera having more species than the other in any order, covering nearly 25% of all kinds of animal life forms known. [2] [3] [4] approximately forty percent of the entire species of insects that have been terdeskripsi are beetles (about 400,000 species [5]) and new species are frequently discovered. Most large taxonomic family, Curculionidae, also entered in this order
The spread of the beetle. Beetles can be found in all major habitats, except in the polar regions and the ocean. They interact with the ecosystem in different ways. Some types of beetles is a manufacturer of detritus, by destroying the tissue of dead animals and plants, eating the carcass of a certain type, and eating garbage.
Some species eat mushrooms. Some of the species is the flower and fruit eaters. There are also types of parasites or parasitoids. Some other species is a predator or predator for invertebrates. Many species of predatory beetles are important as an agricultural pest control. For example, beetles in the family Coccinellidae, insects which eat aphid scales, thrips, and other plant sucking insects that can cause damage to the plant
On the contrary, some types of beetles are prey for a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate animals, including insects, fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals. These beetles are generally not serious pests, but they include pests of agriculture and industry,
like ColoradoLeptinotarsa a number of potato beetle, Anthonomus grandis cotton flour beetles, Tribolium castaneum weevil beetle Callosobruchus maculatus and Cowpea. Including beetles, their larvae see death can cause serious damage to the building in a way encroached on the wood
Species in the order Coleoptera is generally characterized by the presence of a hard exoskeleton and front wings (elytra). This distinguishes the Elytra beetle most other species of insects, except some species of Hemiptera. Exoskeleton consists of many dishes beetle called sklerit,
separated by thin sutures. This design creates a defence of the beetle while maintaining flexibility. General Anatomy of beetles is quite uniform, although specific organs and appendages can vary greatly in appearance and function among many families in this order. Like all insects, the body of the beetle is divided into three parts: the head, the chest (chest) and abdomen (stomach)
