Street dogs of Nepal and India
Street dogs are not usually the focus of my travel photography. But in Nepal and India their numbers are so prolific that they're hard not to notice. The majority of them seem to be in reasonably healthy condition and well fed, sometimes too well fed. Although many of them tend to hang in packs, they seem reasonably well adjusted to humans and generally non-aggressive. In comparison to other countries where street dogs are often malnourished and mangy, there must be a number of reasons why the dogs are in better condition here.
The most interesting street dog I came across was a small white dog spotted in Kathmandu one afternoon. It was hard to tell if it was a pet or stray because it had no collar or owner anywhere to be seen. It was certainly the most distinct street dog I came across on my travels with it's dusty winter jacket and pink bindi on its forehead.
