Hi everyone! I just wanted to share some of my photos for @juliank’s #animalphotography. My parents and I are on a 3 hour roadtrip to Jindabyne, NSW and we suddenly we decided to take a quick stop at the nearest nature reserve park- the Namadgi National Park and then we met these ‘roos!
It was pretty tricky to get these shots as you’d be intimidated by their size and most of all their protective instincts. I had to hide behind bushes and practice my sneaky skills to not scare them all off. It was really a great experience having to be standing just a few feet away from a kangaroo!
As we all probably know, kangaroos are one of Australia’s national animals and also represent spiritual and cultural importance to the indigenous tribes and people. They are part of the Macropodidae family which translates to ‘big foot’ in Latin which explains their enormous hind legs used for hopping and kicking preys. Groups of kangaroos are called mobs.
Flyer refers to a female kangaroo which is famous for its offspring carrying front pouch where they put the joey and a male kangaroo is called a boomer. Most kangaroos would hop away when they feel threatened but the aggressive one hiss and growl. Being relaxed around them will help them feel calm.
All of the photos above were taken by yours truly, hope you enjoyed my photos and fact-packed post, and enjoy the rest of your day!
