We continue learning and touring New Zealand, a country that hides many exotic and interesting secrets, but today we will talk about the most exotic and strange animals that we will not find anywhere else, not only the exotic but the antiquity of many of these animals that today go to know, the animal life of this country with the 5 (five) most exotic animals of New Zealand.

1- Apteryx (Kiwis)
They are small flightless birds, about the size of a chicken. Before the arrival of man, around the year 1300, in New Zealand the only mammals were bats, and the ecological niches that in other parts of the world occupy animals as diverse as horses, wolves and mice were used in New Zealand by birds. term kiwi is Maori, the language of the homonymous people of the Malayopolinesian lineage, the first to colonize New Zealand.

2- Kea

this parrot species lives alone in the mountains of New Zealand, the only parrot that can live in such a climate, since its relatives are usually all from tropical regions. There in the New Zealand mountains the Keas are usually known as wolves with feathers, as they are very playful and clown, which leads them to peck and tear off the roof of the cars. They eat anything, even cattle.

3- Rascón weka
is a species of gruiforme bird of the family Rallidae endemic of New Zealand. The stories of wekas that steal shiny items and bags of sugar are also part of New Zealand folklore. The wekas are robust brown birds, the size of a chicken and incapable of flying. They usually measure around 50 cm tall and weigh around 1 kg.

4- Calamón takahe
is a species of gruiforme bird of the Rallidae family, related with the common and endemic purple swamp of New Zealand. It is in danger of extinction. The adults are bluish in color, although they have a black plumage when they are chicks, their beaks also turn from black to red as they grow.

5- Tuatara

The tuátaras or esfenodontes are endemic reptiles of the islands bordering New Zealand, belonging to the family Sphenodontidae. The meaning of its common name comes from the country and means "spiny back". The only species of tuatara is the only surviving member of its order, which flourished about 200 million years ago. The tuatara is considered the most specialized non-specialized Amniote; the brain and mode of locomotion resemble those of amphibians and the heart is primitive than that of any other reptile. The tuatara reproduce very slowly, taking 10 to 20 years to reach sexual maturity. A treaty to defeat Matusalen in antiquity, but it is in the second (second) place.
