EKIDNA
This is again the only animal of the Monotremata order that still survives in addition to the platypus. The surviving species, native to Papua and Australia, all belong to the Tachyglossidae family. Ekidna is named after the name of a monster in ancient Greek mythology. Ekidna breeds egg-laying, but also has mammary glands.
