AURORA- The Dancing Lights

Lights,they are beautiful, colourful and vibrant but auroras are very special. They have fascinated man-kind, and people travel thousands of miles just to see the brilliant light shows, in the earth's atmosphere. It's a fantastic mirage of lights, dancing and its colours make it worth watching.

An Aurora is a natural light display in higher lati-tude regions. It is caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude thermosphere.

Diffused aurora is a featureless glow in the sky which is nearly impossible to see about the discrete aurora are sharply defined features which is bright enough to read a newspaper at night.

In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis (northern light) named after the Roman Goddess Aurora and Greek name for north wind, Boreas. They illuminate the northern horizon as a greenish band with a faint read sparkle. These shoe wavy curtain like structures, thus often known as "Dance of Spirits".

The colour of aurora on the autumn struct and the altitude.

1.Green, due to oxygen atom strucking upto 150 miles.

2.Red, due to oxygen atom strucking upto 150 miles.

3.Blue, due to nitrogen atom strucking upto 60 miles.

4.Purple/Violet, due to nitrogen atom strucking above 60 miles.

Of course, we are very fortunate to experience and harness the energy and even the experience thr beauty unlike the Artic and Antarctic regions residents.

A Mystery of Auroras with sound which is even more amazing than our bloody imagination.
