I don't have a favourite, but currently I invest my money in Dashcoin, Steem/Steem Dollar and Electroneum. It's too early to tell if Bitcoin Gold will be profitable enough to mine on low-end hardware without supported GPU.

i think electroneum will be a good choice for 2018. as well as IOTA and OmiseGO

Electroneum will be good choice if more exchanges than Cryptopia list it... Even on low-end hardware it doesn't take more than 1-3 days to get minimum payout from a good pool. I mine on 7 pools to get best results as most pools have issues with automatic difficulty adjusting in Stratum proxy if using more than 1 core.

I have invested in electroneum and iota. I think iota may take some time to rise compared to electroneum.

IOTA. The only one which makes CPU mining profitable again, even though my baby whines like a ***** everytime I make a transaction.

The favorite will be BCH it's so close to BTC is will confuse the poop out so many newbees
