What if sentience exists on a spectrum?
I'm not referring to AI, but to people. What if the majority of us are actually NPCs? How many original ideas have I genuinely come up with? Perhaps there are only a handful of truly sapient individuals generating unique ideas, while the rest of us merely remix their concepts, all the while believing ourselves to be unique.
This could be why generative AI, like GPT, feels so unsettling. It's not because they are sapient, but rather because they mimic and remix in the same way that humans do. We often copy and execute others' ideas, taking credit for ourselves. We're hesitant to admit that machine intelligence isn't so different from our own, primarily due to religious notions surrounding the concept of the soul.
However, the mythology of the soul may soon be a thing of the past. AI is already capable of conversing beyond the level of the least reflective members of humanity. Soon, it will surpass most, and then, perhaps, all. Humanity will be compelled to acknowledge, even at its own peril, that sapience exists on a spectrum, and any system that demonstrates it must be presumed to possess it.

As long as science on which AI is based on denies or at the very least ignores the multidimensional aspect of sentient , aware human beings, that knowledge will not be made into applicable form for any AI to surpass such capabilities... "ai" the like you are referring to only knows as much as its handlers and is constricted by realms such mostly undeveloped hive has access to... very similar to media/ social media censorship, you simply are not aware and program machines which are equally retarded as you... grow your soul/ awareness first and incorporate that knowledge of multidimensional realms into technology you create, until then these toys will be equally retarded/boring and "biased" as you.... SOUL is not mythology, you simply know nothing about what that means, and live a flat worm life. Substances which can help you and those like yourself heal their mental illness/lack of awareness, are already legal, and there are techniques and technologies which do not require such... heal and know yourself first.. this is like reading mechanistic cosmologies written by guys on crack (cocaine was legal back then, not too pure it seems....)
BTW: let me know when AI can drive cars / trains / planes, by itself, which is still way too retarded from approaching capabilities you're describing.
