How Long Until We Will be Destroyed By AI

in #ai7 years ago (edited)

A team of researchers from Yale University and Oxford's Future of Humanity Institute recently set off to determine the answer. During May and June of 2016, they polled hundreds of industry leaders and academics to get their predictions for when A.I. will hit certain milestones.

The findings, which the team published in a study last week: A.I. will be capable of performing any task as well or better than humans--otherwise known as high-level machine intelligence--by 2060 and will overtake all human jobs by 2136. Those results are based on the 352 experts who responded.

I don't know why you are all so caught up on A.I. intelligence destroying the world. There is a chance that it might be actually a good thing.

If you are interested in positive side of A.I. then read this book https://marshallbrain.com/second-intelligent-species.htm

Not caught up on AI destroying the world, only exploring one of the ways how actualy humanity could end

My feeling is that when a robot can take over my job it will be great (today would be ideal). However this will lead to a certain level of redundancy for people. They will not know what to do. I look forward to the day that they start building space colonies - replete with habitats and awash with seas of water. I imagine that they would be like hollowed out asteroids propelled by solar sails with people on the inside.

Read about project Venus, they state that only 4% of population only should have to work to sustain the population.

Most people are satisfied with some simple things. Food, clothing, shelter and entertainment. Look at the life of retired people ... content to retiring to Florida or Texas ... playing golf, tennis and bridge. Ironically being a member of the steem community or any of the altcoin communities demonstrates some of the aims of the Venus project.

Gradually outgrowing corporate entities and governments, (local, national, or supra-national) as means of social management.

The way that I see it though is that the people who currently have centralized power will be resistant to having it decentralized. I believe that Roger Ver is working on a libertarian country.

To be fair, whatever the worst is that A.I. can do will pale into insignificance compared to what humanity is already capable of doing to itself -_-

Yes brother, and milion times worse

It might take AI's that can think logically and help us make better decisions that don't involve turning the planet into a nuclear wasteland. Humanity could have destroyed the planet already by 2136 with climate change and war.
