Safety team leaving might not be the best path.

I’m not sure it’s a good thing for AI safety people to quit OpenAI because they're not prioritizing safety.

I think it might be better for them to stay.

If they aren’t taking safety seriously, make them.

Make them or force them to fire you.

Then raise a hullabaloo about the fact that you tried to make them move safely and they fired you for it.

If they don’t fire you, you still have a chance of maybe changing their direction. You might make them safe! You have a unique power that outsiders don’t have.

And if you’d quit anyways, because they’re not taking safety seriously, they have no leverage on you! What are they going to do? Fire you?
