Greetings teachers and students of Steemit

Which season does your region/country falls; and what are the best planting times and why are these times the best?

Our country comes under Tropical Regions and Monsoon (June-August) is the ideal time for planting. During this time soil remains wet as it rains a lot and plants can grow easily.

What is the importance of planting trees in the right place and in which places can trees be planted?

Trees can be planted anywhere in the urban parks and boundaries of croplands including banks of rivers & other water bodies, bare lands, backyard and rooftop where plenty of water and sunlight is available for photosynthesis.

What kind of fertilizers or organic fertilizers should be used to prepare the soil before planting?

Healthy soil is the first step to a healthy productive Garden. It can make all the difference in the health of plants.

Evaluate Beds & Watering System

The first step is if you're gardening in raised beds to take a good look at your raised beds check the condition of your beds. Take some time at the beginning of the season to ensure that your raised beds are ready to go.

Evaluate Existing Soil

The next step is to take a look at the existing soil. The soil level drops significantly, it probably has hopefully a lot of organic matter in soil and as that organic matter breaks down that means the soil level in the garden is lower.

It's time to fill that bed back up with a mixture of a few ingredients including compost vermiculite or perlite and coconut core that is the perfect mixture to give raised beds a light and airy mixture that is excellent for gardening.

Over time that compost is definitely going to break down and some of the other ingredients will break down but they'll take a little bit longer.

Address Weed & Pest Issues

Consider about the soil and the production from that bed last season. Was there a good production did you struggle a lot with things like pests or diseases or weeds. If so now is the time to address those issues if there are existing weeds in the bed pull those weeds out if you have persistent weeds like Bermuda grass coming up through your beds while there aren't any plants in the bed is the best time to address those issues if persistent pests or diseases were issues take note of what they were and make sure that you are rotating which type of crops that you're planting in that bed and planting crops that are less susceptible to those pests and diseases.

Add Worm Castings

To get beds ready for planting is to add worm castings to the soil. Light compost worm castings have amazing benefits for soil. The easiest way to have healthy worm castings available for beds is to install vermicomposting bins in beds that give beds a steady supply of worm castings

Add about one pound for every 40 square feet if one are adding new soil for a new raised bed aim to have about five percent total worm castings in each bed and that may be all one needs to add a lot of organic matter and things are growing well and that soil is going to get better season after season.

Often the first season of gardening is the worst because your soil hasn't had enough time to create that wonderful ecosystem.

What is the correct method of using pesticides and fungicides for gardening and which pesticides/fungicides can be used?

If you apply any kind of insecticide, pesticides or fungicides to a plant during day time then it wi be less effective for the plants. As during the day time the water evaporates quickly so if you spray fungicides on day time, it will evaporate quickly and due to which the pest or insects on the plant cannot be killed.

So the best time to apply any kind of insecticide, pesticides or fungicide on a plant is the evening time. As during the evening time the sun is about to set due to which there will be no evaporation & due to which the impact of the fungicides can remain for a longer period of time on the plant due to which the insects can be killed & your plant will be disease free.

There types of Fungicides are Contact, Systemic & Trans-laminar Fungicides

Contact

Mancozeb, Bayer Antracol, Copper OxyChloride, Azoxystrobin etc

Systemic

Carbendazim, Propiconazole, Tebuconazole, Bayer nativo etc

Translaminar

Carbendazim + mancozeb, Syngenta Ridomil gold, Indofil Avtar etc

What home remedies can be used to protect plants for the roof or back garden?

If Black master seed and butter milk are kept in copper vessel for 8-10 days in a dark place. Butter milk reacts with copper to produce a toxic substance. Muster seeds contain a high amount of sulphur which reacts with copper to produce copper sulphate. This blue colour substance is the best homemade pesticide and fungicide for back and roof gardening.

Welcome to the agro learning challenge season 20 Week-5.

Observations and suggestions:

Nice to see your change of season Monsoon (June-August) We should actually plant the tree in a place where it gets plenty of sun and water so it can take food. Currently coconut sap is widely used for planting trees which you have presented as important. You are right that the temperature is high during the day and the water evaporates from the plants. Because of this, spraying any insecticide or fungicide on the plants in the evening or at night works well. You have listed the fungicides very nicely. I think you are very professional in gardening. I enjoyed reading your post. Good luck to you.

Thank you for assessing my homework and feedback.

Here in Nigeria, planting is mostly January - April. I'm glad to read about the different chemicals and their usages.
Best wishes sir.

Thank you so much.
