Search for Bigfoot

in #adventure7 years ago

We had a great trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. We stayed in the Arlington Hotel. It's an old and very famous hotel with a lot of character. There have been a lot of presidents and famous people including Al Capone and Ronald Reagan that have stayed there. IMG_20171110_170402.jpgWhat a great time. A lot of our Goldwing Road Rider friends joined us there. We ended up with 7 Honda Goldwings in all. We stayed the night and spent the morning getting a great breakfast across the street. The eggs, hotcakes, and sausage were delicious. Back in Hot Springs the following morning we were walking the streets and found a view of rainbow row, (a bunch of houses with pastel colors on one of the side streets.)()
It was right before Thanksgiving and we expected the trees to have already dropped their leaves, but they were in full color. About 10 AM we started out west toward Mena, Arkansas, where we had a great lunch at the Chopping Block Restaurant. IMG_20171207_193832.jpgThen we rode across the Talimena Mountain Trail into Oklahoma in search of "Bigfoot". Plenty of good scenery and lots of twisties. We didn't exactly see Bigfoot, but we did encounter a few deer. Then we got lost on one of the backroads and suddenly turned around and when we did a huge black bear crossed right in front of us. One rider had a close encounter with a bobcat. And I had a black cat that ran right under my tires. He didn't seem to be phased because he jumped up and ran off! We ended up in Honobia, Oklahoma on the Indian Highway, "Home of Bigfoot!"()
We found where Bigfoot was spotted crossing the highway. They put up a Bigfoot crossing sign to mark itIMG_20171207_194226.jpg We had a lot of ground to cover getting back to the hotel. Some of the curves got a little hairy in when the sun went down. The ride back was mostly in the dark. We went out to dinner and had a great Italian meal when we got back into Hot Springs. When Sunday came we left the hotel after a relaxing breakfast and went to a beautiful glass church that was just about 9 miles outside of Hot Springs. The name of the church was Anthony Chapel in the Garvin Woodland Gardens. Glass Church.JPG
The weather was beautiful the rest of the day. What a great ride with a great bunch of friends!
