My true life story: Your worst enemy might be your best friend.

in #adsactly6 years ago (edited)

Today confirmed a popular word they use to say that "your worst enemy might be your best friend"

I got to my place of work today and met the greatest surprise of my life.

I woke up tired and everywhere was cold this morning, I was feeling like going back to my bed and immediately my phone rang, I stretched my hand to pick up the phone from the table next to my bed unfortunately the phone fell from my hand and I could to say who have called me. I fixed the phone and dropped it on the table, its already 8:45am which I was supposed to have resume work by 8am so I have to rush to the bathroom and I was in the bathroom when my phone rang again and I could not pick it.

I have a very strict supervisor known as Mr Jide and doesn't accept excuses, he asked me why I did not pick his calls and why i came late to work, as I was about to answer him he told me to wait for him in his office, at this point I was so scared and afraid to loose my apprenticeship job, I started sweating even with the cold temperature emanating from the air condition in his office, I suddenly felt weak and dehydrated. He has given me what he called 'last warning' before about late coming before.

Here he comes smiling and sitting on his chair at the same time, i was desperately expecting to hear a heart braking news from him but he did utter any word until he printed a paper from his computer and handed it over to me.
I almost told him to keep his paper and walk away but I tried to control myself, I collected the paper and walked out of his office without reading the content of the paper.

I went straight to our changing room and removed my baking uniform then a co-worker that was concerned about me came in and said, 'Offor go and apologize to him' I told him he has already printed it. my co-worker picked up the paper and shouted, Hah!
he looked at me for about 5 seconds and said congratulations, I felt he was mocking me so i did not utter any word until he asked me; did you read the content of this paper, I replied him; no need of wasting my time, "You have been promoted to the position of a baker" he said. At this point I was interested to read the paper, I read and saw that it was a promotional letter and its the least thing I was expecting to happen because I started as an apprentice bakery assistant 2months ago and we were 5 that started at the same time.

I ran back to his office to say thank you, he said "i choose you because you are always willing to bake and now you can start baking"

Honestly I was amazed and speechless but I have learn that the person you see as your worst enemy might be your best friend.

Thank you
