RE: ADSactly Short Stories - The Hangman's Execution
Now here's how judicial hanging SHOULD be done (at least in my opinion): Prior to the hanging, the inmate should be weighed and the drop will vary by body weight and neck strength, calculated by the centimeter. Then, the rope must be boiled and stretched to keep it straight without coiling. Then, sandbags will be dropped to make sure the ropes hold up. Shortly before the execution, the rope is oiled really well with top-grade grease so that the knot slides smoothly when pulled on by the hangman. When the hangman triggers the trap and the inmate drops his/her final 3-9 feet (or approximately 1-3 meters if not in the US), the rope will snap the inmate's neck like a dried-out twig. Due to the broken neck, the inmate will be rendered unconscious at the end of the rope. Thanks @adsactly good writing
