The depth of your story
It does not matter if your story is 1 page long, 100 paragraphs long or 1000 books-long.
What matters is
The depth of your story
Recently,
As I’ve been learning more about storytelling
I’ve been focusing on depth
I want to be a storyteller who’s remembered for the details he brought out.
It’s almost like squeezing a lemon
The more you squeeze the more juice you get
The more you squeeze the storyline
The more stories you get
Depth matters more than length
Because it really allows you to encourage your audience to focus on one particular topic
Harry Potter’s story was based around a muggle-wizard
Cinderella was about finding true love
Ramayana was about finding truth, peace and acceptance.
The deeper you go into a story
The longer you’ll have your audience’s attention
The more they will crave to turn the page
It’s all an attention game.
And let me remind you, we live in an attention deprived world, with an even shorter memory span.
Squeeze the lemon till it’s dry
Tell your stories in so much detail, your audience feels like they are there with you.
