I've been on a "regional" bus (that back then cost $9 to ride, nowadays it's probably over $10) that I was only on for maybe 10-15 minutes because it ran on the highway so you went far, fast that was like a long haul travel bus with tall, individual seats and foot rests and such. Meanwhile, you'll be on a city bus for a half an hour just to travel halfway across the city proper and there's gunk on the seats, something sticky on the floor, torn up seats and signs, the heater will be broken, etc.
They've got it all backwards.

I have done a few bus trips around the world between cities some lasting hours, but yes riding ones around a city like NYC with all the traffic can seem an eternity with them barely moving at all at times

It used to take me 2 1/2 hours to commute to work one way - in a car it would have been 20 minutes. :(

My train takes about an hour 45 on average, Drivign to work in the morning would be quicker, but the drive hoe would be often terrible from what I see of the delays on the highway I am happy on the train :)
