Colourful nature

Have you seen purple pinecones? Apparently they exist and are not just from a fantasy novel. One of my distant relatives has them growing in their garden. Now just to test whether squirrels like them or not. What other weird plant variations are out there?

    I thought these were really oblong pigeons at first. These pine cones are truly unique!
