CONTENT ETIQUETTE
Good day, steemit community! Today I'll be delving deeper into the topic of content etiquette.
Firstly, what is content etiquette?
Content etiquette may simply be defined as the guidelines and procedures that a content writer must follow when writing in order to avoid plagiarism and to produce a fantastic article.
There are certain things a content writer should avoid when writing a content, and they are as follows:

What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is when someone uses another author's words, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as their own original work. Plagiarism is defined differently in educational settings depending on the institution. Plagiarism is regarded as a breach of academic integrity and journalistic ethics.
So when writing a content, one need to follow some specific rules and principles which is content etiquette, one need to follow this rules and principles in order tp prevent plagiarism, plagiarism is very dangerous and can ruin and destroy one's work.
There are various ways by which a content writer can commit the act of plagiarism. They are as follows :
- Direct Plagiarism
- Mosaic Plagiarism
- Complete Plagiarism
- Self-Plagiarism
Direct Plagiarism
Direct plagiarism is most usually defined as stealing elements of another writer's work without properly citing the source or removing quote marks. Often, while copying from a text, the individual doing so does not modify a single word. The plagiarist can also change sections of sentences or substitute his or her own words. It does, however, fall within the category of plagiarism.
Direct plagiarism is the most destructive of the several types of plagiarism.
Mosaic Plagiarism
In this situation, the plagiarist may have indicated the content's source. However, if the writer fails to acknowledge the quoted part or correctly place it between quotation marks, he or she is guilty of plagiarism.
Complete Plagiarism
In this situation, the writer takes the original write up or work of another writer and submits it as his or her own original work. This is the highest form of plagiarism.
This is a serious academic offence and can result to destruction of a writer's content or work.
Self Plagiarism
This is a type of plagiarism in which a writer plagiarizes another author's work. In this example, a writer uses a significant phase without naming , citing or crediting the author.
Consequences of Plagiarism
The consequences of plagiarism can be personal, professional, ethical, and legal. There are various consequences when a writer plagiarizes the work of an author and the consequences are as follows:
Plagiarism can lead to the destruction of one's work. When a writer plagiarizes an author's work, the plagiarized work can be destroyed and it is a very serious academic offense
Plagiarism can get one expelled or suspended from the institution, so plagiarism should be avoided.
Plagiarism can damage and destroy one's reputation.
Plagiarism can cause one's work to be unknown and irrelevant and be of no significance in the society
CITATION OF SOURCE
It is critical to cite the source of your work as a writer to avoid erroneous or inaccurate citation.
Citation of source is very important and vital, it will show that your aren't plagiarising.
EXAMPLE OF CITATION
Author(s) name: Give the last name and name as presented in the source (e. g. Watson, John). For two authors, reverse only the first name, followed by ‘and’ and the second name in normal order (e. g. Watson, John, and John Watson). For three or more authors, list the first name followed by et al. (e. g. Watson, John, et al.)
