No Bus, Becak Is Not Enough
By Tabrani Yunis
It was the time for students of a Junior High School in Mutiara Subdistrict, Bereuneun, Pidie. Some students were crossing the street in front of school. Some of them were waiting for their parents who would take them home and some others used motorcycles. Not far from the gate of schools, there were two tricycles which were taking many students to their destinations or homes.
Actually, it is common for students go home by taking tricycles or becak homes. But it can be that in one tricycle is only for one or two passengers. But today when I was driving and passing by the school, I saw something strange. I say it was strange because the tricycle did not only or two passengers or students, but seemed that more than 6 students. May be around 10 students. Some of them were sitting and some others were standing. It was very crowded.
Looking at this scene, it showed that there was no school bus available for taking those students home. Taking tricycle with full of passengers is dangerous. Because of overloading, the tricycle can be broken and the students will fall down the street and can cause students hurt. Even in some cases, the students can be hit by other vehicles behind the tricycle. The traffic accident will make them in danger.
It is not an ideal situation or condition.
Ideally, teachers or parents ban them. Do not let them go home by full passengers tricycle which can make them in danger. Not only teachers and parents be aware of this condition, but local Government should be aware in order to keep the students can go and home safely. The local Government should provide adequate school buses that can safely deliver students go to schools and back home.
Bases on that condition, it proved that the local Government is unaware with the safety of the students. It is an ironic if in this era, the transportation for students are not provided by the Government.
You must be agree that the tricycle with overloaded passengers is threatening the safety of the students. Be aware and wise. The young students are our assets. Lets think about it now
Its so dangerous. Hopefully, local government can provide a proper vehicle to their students.
