How do people roll tape?
If you ever pull the tape longer than you need, you may forget to try to roll it back. If you successfully rolled back, the results are usually not tidy and the edges are skewed. How exactly can the masking tape factory produce several million rolls of duct tape perfectly so that it can neatly enter the office and at home throughout the world?
The trick is to support tape before cutting into a small size that is easier to handle. Just as newspapers move past the printing press, sheets of polyester film with several meters in width move past the machine instead of printing, but overlay it with glue. The sticky film is rolled up on a tube, which is also several meters wide. This super wide masking tape roll is then taken to the cutting machine, which consists of a rod with a round knife of various sizes. Almost instantly this sharp knife whizzes through tape and tubes that produce a package of rolls that we know well
