Two cavalcans of speed train Express derailed in Tongi in Tongi. After this incident, the movement of trains in North Bengal and Chittagong with Dhaka has been closed. The accident happened on Thursday evening at around 6:30 pm.

There were no casualties in the accident while the passengers were panicked.

Tongi Railway Police Outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Delwar Hossain said the Dhaka-bound Rapid Express from Dinajpur was going to Kamalapur in Dhaka. On the way to Tongi Bazar railway gate area, the bridge of the railway line broke down. In this, four wheelers on the back of the train were derailed. For that reason, the train stopped. The train passengers were panicked on this incident. But no casualties were reported.

ASI Delwar further said that the train movement with Dhaka has been stopped since the accident.

Joydevpur railway junction station master Shahjahan Mia said that after the incident, Teesta Express train at Joydebpur station has stopped the journey. The rescue team has been informed to rescue the derailed bogies.
