The Abandoned Farmhouse with Everything Left in place +photo gallery+

in #abandoned4 years ago (edited)

This is a fairly small and very old country farmhouse, once occupied by two elderly gentlemen. One of the men died in the house in 2006, and his room was left as it was. The second man lived in the house for the next few years, until his death in late 2020. With no family whatsoever, a neighbor blocked the driveway and nobody has been back. In its rural location on hundreds of acres, I don't foresee this property changing anytime soon.

This was Edward's room. Edward died here, in this bed in August of 2006. Another photo, later on, will show the calendar still set up in Eds room.

Ted's chair. This dirty chair was situated right out front of Ted's bedroom. It was clear that often times he would get up from bed, make the sheets and sit in this chair.

3 TVs were stacked across the room, from a very old floor model to the newer flat screen. All 3 worked.

In 2020, we're so used to seeing certain things that it's easy to realize you missed it until looking back on photos. Here, one thing that stood out was just how dirty the house was. The walls, the doors, the lights, all blackened by dirt. Not unheard of in a farmhouse. But it wasn't until looking back on the photos that I realized there was no shower. No bath. No toilet. The house has running water to the sink, but the bathroom was simply an outhouse located about 50 yards from the front door.
