Abandoned 100 Year-old Theater +photo gallery+

Built over the course of a year in 1922-1923, before opening as the Capitol Theater, this Heritage Theater was meant to house Vaudeville plays for the 860+ patrons. Shortly after opening and putting on a number of vaudeville plays, the playhouse converted to accommodate the new and popular silent films as well. Seating was cut to a little over 700 at this time. In the 1980s Odeon operated out of this location before the city ultimately bought the building. Despite city ownership, the building was never designated historically and as the clock ticks on, the fate is unknown. Vacated in 2006 with the opening of a new theater, and avoiding demolition ever since, it's pretty uncertain what will come of this building.
