ᔕᑕᗷ Witness - Thank You!

Steemit is in a phase where innovations are being implemented.

Developments community & wallet

There are several developments that definitely improve the appearance of steemit.com.

  • I think the option to rearrange pinned posts in communities is a big step forward. Being forced to scroll through 10-20 pinned posts just to find something new is particularly annoying, especially for mobile users. This is yet another reason to lose interest in reading and searching for posts. It would be good if communities took the time to review which posts no longer need to be pinned.
The new option is definitely an improvement for the account. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work well with all mobile phones (browswes? unless you set it to desktop mode).
  • The wallet has also changed. More options have been added, which is certainly a plus, especially since steemit.com is open-source. Now, not only can you delegate to others (this isn’t always obvious), but you can also revoke delegations directly from the wallet—and it happens very quickly. Just keep in mind that it takes 5 days to complete. I’m not entirely sure why this is the case. I don’t remember it being like this when I used steemworld.org, but I might be wrong. If you don’t want to run out of SP, waiting until the revoked delegation is fully processed before delegating again is better.

Personally, I’d love to see a clear, large green button for voting on witnesses, and the same goes for a button to vote on proposals.
I don’t believe many people currently go digging through the menu to find these options. It could definitely be made easier and more user-friendly.

Piggy bank

For a brief moment, I saw a separate piggy bank (savings) option for SBD (Steem Basic Dollar) in the wallet. This feature suddenly disappeared. Steem Dollar can still be sent to "savings," but it’s not made clear what happens to it. Is it converted to Steem? There’s no explanation anywhere, nor a separate savings.
It is useful to be able to transfer SBD to savings, since there was never any security if an account was hacked (as happened in 2024). If SBD is in "savings" it can not disappear with a single click.

Savings - transfers - clubstatus - second account

I wonder why withdrawing from savings is treated as a transfer and penalises club status.
Imagine you want to use your Steem for a power-up, suddenly, funds that were already in your account and never used are considered a transfer just because you want to power up with that amount. I find this a strange observation and wonder whether the whole club status concept needs to be re-evaluated, because in practice, you can’t do much (like playing Steemit games) if you want to maintain a club status of 100.
The only option left is to open an extra account to function as a wallet. But then the question is whether you’ll be labelled as a farmer or a scammer.

Bugs - proposals

Although I thought most bugs were fixed, this isn't the case. I’ve encountered several issues (on mobile):

  • Writing a (longer) comment is particularly difficult. Often, half the text is off-screen, or there are strange blank spaces next to it.
  • Correcting typos or adding text is almost impossible.
  • Pinning communities is often not visible, and even when it is, clicking "unpin" doesn’t always work (refreshing the browser doesn’t help).
  • Setting a percentage for an upvote is still a huge hassle. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to set a percentage (both on phone and PC). It would be great if the percentage could simply be typed in when the slider doesn’t work.
Another issue I’ve noticed is that when I switch to a different account, a 100% vote is suddenly applied, which is extremely annoying and needs to be corrected.
  • It would be helpful if communities could set a list with hashtags for users to choose from, to avoid hashtag abuse where intern hashtags automatically will show at the end.

Rewards/Upvotes/Comments/Thank You

Aside from the practical difficulties of writing a decent comment, I’ve also noticed that those who upvote others rarely receive a thank you, let alone receive an upvote in return. Often, it’s the witnesses who have made it a habit to provide upvotes to many users. This seems to be taken for granted, which definitely shouldn’t be the case.

The idea behind a platform like Steemit is that everyone should give to receive.

I’d like to ask all Steemians to start by saying "thank you"even if you don't receive a reply, to those who give upvotes (curation teams and witnesses) and to upvote them in return.
Now, you might say, "They’re rich enough," but keep in mind that there are many who would like an upvote, and everyone would rather receive $1 than 1 cent.

Hi Kitty, I can't tell you anything about the functionality of apps, I generally don't use them... As far as withdrawing delegations is concerned, it always and everywhetre takes five days to become available. The wallet options haven't changed in this respect either... The same applies to SBD savings. Was always possible. Remain SBD accordingly. Setting percentages for votes - no problem. No idea what trick the technology is playing on you. Some script that you have disabled...?

I would like to discreetly disagree with your call for thanks and counter-votes. If I give you a vote, you deserve it in my eyes. With a good text, with a good deed, or simply as a nice person ;-)) No need to thank me. And no reason to give me a vote in return. Because maybe I don't write so well, don't act so altruistically or am simply not nice ;-)) No votes out of a perceived obligation! This in turn fuels the expectation that every account that gives you an inflationary 0 ct worth of 100% votes will get the same (i.e. 100% votes) back from you. I think that's fundamentally wrong.

I am sure there has never been a savings for the SBD, and this issue is also mentioned as the many accounts were robbed. So, if you saw it, the question is: how come many didn't and still don't, and had to leave it where it was (not in savings), where it could be easily transferred? Not once @jiva34 received an answer. No one responded as we asked how SBD is, unlike Steem not protected, although the value is higher.

Can it be the browser? Is it due to the differences in apps?

I still see a huge difference if it comes to the layout and options of steemit.com (Samsung - Firefox - Adware) some options are not visible. And no, I don't like to use Chrome of being forced to do so. I can't see a part of the menu.

If it comes to saying thank you and showing some gratitude, I disagree. Upvotes are taken for granted, and there is a large group that refuses to give an upvote (also noticed during we-write).No explanation given either what makes them believe they have the right to demand upvotes while never voting for anyone (hard to believe there's not one single post or comment one likes, this besides of the fact we all have our favourite writers we reward or?). What makes this different from the farmer accounts?

I do agree that not everyone should receive if you don't like what is written, although I do upvote text I don't agree with simply because it can still be good. I don't vote for those who give me 0 out of 0 simply because I don't use steemchiller to check who votes how much. As I understand it's fine not to thank SCs and not take part in the PoB the platform is based on.

Thanks for the response and sharing your experiences. Plenty of food for the mind.

The different representations are a problem, yes. Perhaps this has been harmonised in recent weeks and months? It's hard for me to judge, as I never work with smartphone apps. I use three different browsers on my PC for my private and Community accounts; a fourth in the months when I was sc. I know the wallet in all these browsers - and a few others that I discarded over time for various reasons - in its current form and functionality. The only difference: TRX used to be distributed and reported.

Btw - I don't use Google services either. I can recommend Brave, Libre Wolf or Ecosia as a full browser or Arora as a mini browser with a reduced range of functions, but sufficient for all Steemit matters...

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
