"SLC-S25/W2 | Vanilla ice cream"

Only three ingredients: milk, cream, and vanilla. It doesn’t sound fancy, but once you taste it… I tell you, it’s super creamy and delicious! But this? More than just vanilla, it was a challenge in itself. We went all out looking for this custard powder. One of the ingredients specified in this challenge. We spent four days going from one grocery store to another. But sadly, it is really not available in our place. We even went to a baking depot, but still we couldn't find it. I intended to create a custard-based mixture, like adding an egg yolk to the cream, but I am afraid I won't make it right. Also, no ice cream machine to help. Just me. As I don't want to leave this challenge, I just use the main ingredients for vanilla ice cream like cream, condensed milk, and vanilla, so I can join. I hope this entry will be considered.

We top the ice cream with smashed oreo and sprinkles as requested by my son
They liked it so much.

No joke, my kids really loved it! So creamy, and even better with some fruit on the side.
That mix of ice cream, mango, and banana took me right back. We first tried it on a simple trip, but the taste stuck with me ever since. Now, recreating it at home turned into more than just dessert, it became a little taste of a happy memory.

What difficulties did you encounter while making this recipe?

I don't have the technique of proper mixing to raise the cream and the milk to achieve the desired consistency. I was in doubt at that time if I had done the mixing right. I’m not really into cooking. At home, it’s my husband who loves it… especially baking. And he’s away right now, so I’m doing my best on my own. I am just glad to have gone through this challenge, and I manage my own.
After about 4 hours in freezing, I checked the ice cream in the fridge, as I saw that the texture is still soft, maybe because it’s lacking in the freezing process, or maybe it needs to stay in the fridge longer. So I put it in our other freezer and set it to a colder setting so it would freeze properly.

If you were given the opportunity to share this delicious Vanilla ice cream with a Steemit friend, who would you share it with?

Have you noticed how just talking about ice cream makes us smile? Bet you, even grandpa cracks a smile when there’s ice cream! Even more if someone’s treating! And imagine, it’s boiling hot, and someone hands you free ice cream. That’s heaven! If I ever get to share this ice cream, it’s with my Steemit friend for sure… @kyrie1234. She's the one who invited me to Steemit and keeps on encouraging me to keep going. Not to mention, she is a food lover like me. I'm sure at this time there will be a long chit-chat and laughter. We barely had time to catch up ever since classes started. She is now handling grade 9 while I am in grade 10. If I gonna share my homemade ice cream with her, it would be a perfect timing for us to meet. I’m excited to hear what she thinks once she gets to taste it. Even more so when she finds out I made it myself!

I am inviting @kyrie1234, @jes88, and @natz04 to join this contest.

I saw a Japanese show where they made a dessert with ingredients similar to your recipe, but used Earl Grey tea instead of vanilla. Since they didn't have an ice cream maker, they used the granita method to get the texture right.

Yeah, you are right, Earl Grey Tea can add a fragrance like vanilla with a citrus taste, a perfect match for a creamy dessert. The granita method is another way of making ice cream without using equipment. The Japanese are
creative and inventive in making their food. They are focused on health and utilize what's on hand.

I think I want to try your version because it sounded so yummy!

Hi friend! Try it and see, it's easy and really affordable! Just ask if you’ve got questions. So happy you liked this menu!
Oh! I read your introductory post and saw that you are interested in Japan and its cuisine. It makes sense that you already have an idea of how they do it, as you mentioned earlier (Earl Grey tea and the granita method). My husband confirmed it. He had worked in Japan for several years. He is assigned in Aomori Prefecture. Small world, right?

You are right about being affordable. It's cheaper than the store bought ones.
Aomori? The snowiest place on earth? That's so nice.

Aomori? The snowiest place on earth? That's so nice.

Yes, my husband said, the snow drifts there can sometimes surpass the height of cars.

The view must be so beautiful. Wish I can visit some day.

Hello, I voted, but I hadn't read the content. You used other ingredients, heavy cream and condensed milk, and I'm sure the ice cream turned out delicious. With the heavy cream, it probably takes longer to harden, although I'll tell you that when I mixed the milk with the custard powder, it had a creamy consistency. What delicious ice cream! We all love it.

Blessings.

Hola friend! Experimenting with menus is always both challenging and fun. You are right, heavy cream does make the ice cream takes time to harden, but the result is super creamy and soft. If I can find custard powder, I’ll make ice cream again so I can compare the two versions.
