What is 2FA or Two Way Authentication?
One of the easiest ways for hackers to attack an account and steal all their goods is for you to keep your account 'insecure.' Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) or Two-Way Authentication is one of the easiest ways to strengthen your account against hacks.
So, how does it work? Instead of having just one password to get into your account, many people use Google Authenticator or an SMS message as the 2nd method of authenticating you are who you say you are. If you choose to use Google Authenticator, make sure you have some way of recovering your authenticator code for the account you're using 2FA on, otherwise lose your phone and you'll lose your access. SMS messages (text messages) are the least secure of the two because hackers are now doing 'social hacking' where they contact your phone company and have them port your number to their phone, then get your intended text message. If you have a choice between SMS and Authenticator, I'd use Authenticator, but if you only have the choice between single verification (you entering your password) and 2FA using SMS, I'd choose SMS hands down.
