The Bengal Tiger of the Sundarbans is the second largest tiger subspecies in the world. They hunt at sunrise and sunset, preferring to hunt in low light environments. They sleep during the day to escape the heat of the sun. According to a 2014 survey, only about 2,200 tigers survive in the wild. Due to various tiger conservation programs of the government, the number of tigers has come down.
