Planning makes you not to live the day by chance but you will be following the plans that you have put into place. More so, when you plan, you will avoid the distractions of doing everything at once, because it will make you to prioritise your day as it should. You may have a lot of tasks to complete in the course of the day, but doing everything at once may make you not to get anyone accomplished. It is through planning that you will prioritise your activities and tasks, and then know which one to get done in the order of importance. Having a well-planned day will help you to manage and utilise your time effectively, and use it to accomplish meaningful goals.

One of the things that I learnt from a very respected mentor which has helped me over the years is to plan for the day a night before. What he normally does, which I learnt while I stayed briefly with him some years back, is that when he comes home from work and after resting and having his breakfast, just before sleeping, he would pick a paper and write down how he would want his tomorrow to be. He would make plans of the tasks to accomplish and even add timing to them. This helped him to remain focused and concentrated throughout, and removes distraction. Not just that, it also saves him time that he would have wasted on irrelevances, and makes him better productive. When I learnt the hack and have been applying it, it has continued to work for me.

Planning is what you do right from where you are. You do not have to wait until you are entrusted with some massive assignments or until you occupy some very top and strategic position. If you cannot plan your day at the level you are now, and make it your lifestyle, you may not even do it even if you are made the leader. One of the reasons it looks like some people are almost cracking under the weight of their assignments and feel like work is choking them is because they lack the culture of planning. You will be surprised how easy it will be to win the day when you learn to plan. Knowing what to do and when to do it will make it easier for the task to be done and also make you better productive at it.

During the process of planning for the day, it is important for you to break the tasks into bits that will be easier for you to manage. Having a bulky or large task to perform at once may make you feel overwhelmed and even be discouraged. This is why, even if you have something massive to accomplish, but in order to make it easier and more efficient, you can divide it into bits, then you can face one at a time. More so, it will make you less stressed to complete the task. You do not have to do everything at once in order to succeed at it, even doing it in manageable bits will also make you to accomplish the task.

You have to see each day that comes as a gift from nature and an opportunity to achieve something great. With this in mind, you will be able to plan effectively well for it. There are tools that can help you to plan your day for the win. You can use a to-do list which you can use to make a list of the activities that you need to perform for the day. You can also make use of diaries, calendars, and the likes. In this digital age, there are some apps that can help one with that, and will even remind you of the tasks that need to be done with time frame attached to them. Always remember that you are responsible for the outcome of your day by your actions.
