Scorum is dead!

Wow, that was a rather surprising and shocking news I saw on the Scorum Telegram channel on Thursday.
After all the year, after all the waiting, all the hopes and dreams - the Scorum team announced that the are finally going to abandon their project. For me it is quite bad news, since I have been engaged with Scorum for quite some year now. I have spend my money and my time and even after all the setbacks I have always kept some little flame of hope, that this promising project will finally take off and start to shine.
But well, things went a different way and now the dev team has decided to close the doors. They already have some other project going on, where they seem to make their money. As for us investors there is not much we can do. Even do the project will be open-source soon, I don't see anyone taking over and continuing.
I think I should keep my feeling about that and my opinion to myself and just post the the official announcement:
To Our Community, With Respect and Gratitude
ScorumMay 21, 2025
Dear Scorum Community,
After long discussions, difficult reflections, and many years of building, we’ve made the decision to stop active development of the Scorum project.
This wasn’t an easy choice and it certainly wasn’t made overnight. But after evaluating the current landscape, our internal direction, and the outcomes of recent initiatives, we’ve come to accept that continuing no longer aligns with the original goals of the project or with today’s realities in Web3.
Why We’re Stepping Away
- Crypto betting, a core component of our early vision, never found sustainable traction globally.
- Token-based social networks remain niche, with very few seeing meaningful adoption.
- Many of our side initiatives — including Aviatrix — didn’t achieve the traction we had hoped for within the crypto-native audience.
- There was a persistent conflict of expectations: while we were always focused on building a product, many token buyers were primarily interested in price growth. This fundamental difference in priorities created ongoing tension and made it difficult to align decisions around the project's direction.
- Despite consistent effort, we were unable to secure external funding. Neither Web3 nor Web2 investors, nor ecosystem funds from platforms like Solana or Base, chose to invest.
Why Now
We’ve been personally funding the project for a long time. And while our commitment to the original idea never faded, the reality is that continuing in this form no longer makes sense — strategically or financially.
We’re proud of what we’ve built: a live product, a working blockchain, an active community. But it’s time to be realistic and responsible with our time, energy, and resources.
What Comes Next
You are reading this update here in telegraph because the Scorum.com domain will be shut down, and we will also turn off our nodes and stop hosting infrastructure next week. This is the final chapter of the current Scorum project.
However, we don’t believe the story has to end here completely.
In the near future, we’ll make all core components of the Scorum project open-source. If someone from the community is interested in continuing the project independently — under a new brand and vision — they will have it to do. This is not a sale. This is a chance for the community to pick up where we left off, if the desire is there.
If our team decides to return to the Web3 space in the future, whether with a new idea or under a new brand, we'll make sure to honor the Scorum community. We’ll do this by organizing a dedicated airdrop for SCR token holders, based on snapshots that we will take.
A Final Word
We’re proud of the journey. We kept building even when the market sentiment wasn’t in our favor. We’ll always be grateful for the ride and for the community that joined us along the way.
Thank you to everyone who supported us, contributed content, staked tokens, ran validators, or simply believed in the idea.
Scorum was early and bold. And even if this chapter ends here, the impact and lessons will remain.
With gratitude,
The Scorum Team
