Greetings, WOX friends, today I'm back with a beautiful flower, or rather a flower spike, of which I captured several progressive close-ups until I reached the stamens and pistils. I hope you enjoy them.

The 5 selected close-ups

Photo N° 1 The stamens and pistil

In the area where I live, the rainy season has begun. This event is a welcome development for the plants, which have been waiting for the beginning of a phase of renewal, growth, and reproduction after several months of drought. In this photo, you can see the stamens and pistil of the gladiolus flower up close.

The stamens are a very deep violet color, almost purple, while the pistil is more yellowish white. The stamens produce pollen, which will stick to pollinating insects for transport to the pistils.

Photo N° 3

The flower is irregular; I could count seven petals, one very large and main one surrounded by six others. Their colors range from yellow toward the center, with shades of orange toward red. It's a truly beautiful flower.

Photo N° 4

The plant produced several spikes, each with flowers that will open over the course of almost a few days, showing different sizes and degrees of opening.I can count seven flowers on this one.

This is a gladiolus plant. I don't know the species, but Google Lens helped me recognize the genus name. I notice that the leaves of this particular one are more elongated, like a sword, compared to the wider, more oblong leaves shown by Google Lens.
