Greetings, WOX friends. This week I'm bringing you an extreme close-up session of a mantis. The session was conducted in a studio with ring lighting.
The 5 selected close-ups
Photo N° 1: The Model

I'm not sure of the classification and scientific name of this mantis specimen. Google Lens associates it with the genus Rhombodera, but this refers to large mantises, while the model's dimensions are no more than three centimeters long. |

Mantises are expert predators of all types of insects. They approach their prey slowly and with great agility, and in the blink of an eye, they catch it in their claws with their many sharp hooks. |

Another activity they spend a lot of time on is cleaning and grooming their antennae, claws, and legs. This keeps them free of diseases and parasites. |

The session was shot under fluorescent ring light, which is why the whites look a bit blue, but I think I managed to get some good shots of this specimen. It remained still for a long time. |

I did the subsequent editing in Lightroom, focusing on cropping for better framing and color enhancement, and in some cases improving sharpness. NOTE: After the session, the mantis was released. |
