A Little Escape to Mata Ie – Nature, Laughter, and My Niece
Last weekend, I went on a little getaway to Mata Ie, a beautiful natural spring tucked away in Punie. It wasn’t something grand or far from home, but sometimes the simple trips are the ones that leave the best memories.
I went with my niece. She's the kind of child who gets excited over everything—birds flying, leaves falling, fish swimming. Watching her enjoy nature reminded me of how magical things used to feel when I was her age.
The water at Mata Ie was crystal clear and cold, like it came straight from the heart of the mountain. Locals believe it’s been flowing for generations, never stopping. There’s something sacred about that kind of place. The sound of water, the rustling of trees, the laughter of children—it all made me feel light.
We dipped our feet into the stream, played with the tiny fish, and took lots of photos. My niece tried to "catch the water" with her hands and laughed every time it slipped through her fingers. It was such a simple joy, but it filled the whole day with warmth.
I left Mata Ie with wet clothes, tired feet, and a heart full of gratitude.
Nature has a way of healing. No phone screens, no pressure, just fresh air and genuine smiles. I think we all need that sometimes—to get away, not too far, and just breathe.
