Hello Guys
It's @glorystar21, today I will be writing about a story about gold. This contest reminds me of how I used to write story when I was in my primary school. So my story title is the gold hunt. I appreciate the organizer @musa-gold and @WORLDOFXPILAR community for a successful contest. My story goes this way

The Gold Hunt

It all started with a boy whose name is John. He is a punctual boy when it comes to school issues. He wakes up by 6:00am to prepare himself by taking tea and bread as breakfast, wears his uniform and head straight to the bus stop. When he was 13 year old life was still the same as in going to school, doing homework and in assisting his mom in selling since her mom was a trader. Like many boys, he wanted something exciting to happen. He dreamed of finding something big, maybe enough to help his family. Today, something would change.
At school, he did his usual by eating jollof rice from his lunchbox as lunch, his friend Michael showed him a post on his phone about a certain man who found a paper in a book at the city library. The paper had a written note that talked about gold coins hidden by a rich old man named Mr Ade, who did some years back. The paper said that the gold was in the heart of Lagos where time doesn't move.
People on the phone called it a joke, but some people were already looking for it. John’s eyes got big. Gold? Real gold? He thought about this life the whole struggling with his mom. If he found it, they could rest.

After school, John did not go back home, instead he boarded a bus to the big library in the city. The library was quiet, with lots of old books. He went to the shelf with Lagos history books, like the news said. He picked one and opened it. A small, old paper fell out. His heart beat fast. He read it: “Find the clock that does not work. The gold is under its face.”

John was excited after reading the note, it was like the news. It talked about a clock that didn’t move. He knew the old clock tower in the market square. Everyone knew that the clock was and stick at four o'clock for years. Was that the place? John said.

Quickly he made way as fast as his leg could carry to the village square. The clock tower was tall, with people selling things around it. When he arrived, he looked at the bottom of the tower and saw a stone with dirt on it. He used a stick to clean it. A note was written on the stone saying “Built 1960 for Mr. Ade.” John's hands shook, his eyes wide with excitement saying this was it.

The stone was loose. John looked around and noticed that nobody was watching and he pulled it up. Under it was a small, rusty box. He grabbed it and hid it inside his school bag, then ran home. Immediately he entered the house, he went straight to his room, he used a spoon to break the box open. The box contained shiny gold coins, maybe twenty. They had “1960” and “A” on them. Tobi couldn’t believe it. He was like whoa I found the real treasure. After hearing the news that other people were looking for the gold, he was scared. If they knew he had it, would they come for him? he whispered. He hid the coins under his bed and didn’t tell anyone, not even his mom.

The next day, John didn’t go to school simply because of the gold he found. He told his mom he won't be able to as he was sick so as to think about the treasure. He used his mother's phone to check out the worth of the gold and what others are saying about it. He also saw other comments like someone had found another another written note which means that there's more gold. John's thought too far.

After thinking for do long, he decided to go meet his uncle who sold thing at the market. On his way to his uncle's place with a bag containing gold, he saw two hefty men watching him crossing the road. John's heart melted and beats fastly. At the market, his Uncle looked at the gold and said, Where did you get this, John said he found them in an old box. His Uncle wanted to bribe him a hundred and thousand sum of money, but he rejected it.

At home, Tobi hide the coins in a place more safe. That night, he heard some noise outside near the house and ran out with a trick to beat the thief but the thief ran.
He wanted to keep it, but it was risky.

John was curious on what to do so he decided to go to library the next day where he found a book about Mr Ade. The book said that he liked hiding things where everyone could see but not notice. Another part of the book said that Mr Ade loved the river by the bridge. Immediately John thought of the river near the market and he landed thinking that may be more was there.

After thinking on what to do he decided to take a talk to the bridge. As quiet as the bridge was, with only a few people walking. He saw some stones a bit far from the beach and found one stone with a symbol “A” carved on it. He bought it out and saw another small box. Inside the box, he saw more coins and a written note. The note says: Gold is good, but greed is bad share it, or lose it.

John sat by the river, thinking. Share? With who? His family? The city? He remembered the man in the cap and the noise at night. The gold was his, but it brought danger. Over the next few days, he found two more boxes, one in a park, one near a statue in the churchyard. Each had coins and a note about sharing. But more people were watching him now. One night, someone tried to open his window. But John shouted, and they ran.

John took a step by keeping five pieces of gold for his family. It was enough to help his mom stop working so hard. The rest of it, he took to the city museum. He told them about Mr. Ade’s gold and gave them the notes too. The museum made a big show called “Ade’s Treasure.” Everyone talked about it on TV, on phones, everywhere. They called John a hero.

With the only five piece of good, John’s mom paid for a better house. Tobi went back to school, but he felt different. The gold didn’t just bring money, the gold made him brave. He wasn’t just a boy anymore. As he walked to school, one coin in his pocket, he smiled. The hunt was over, but his life was new.

Conclusion

Treasure brings excitement and happiness. John's gold hunt taught him a valuable lessons. He faces choices in keeping the gold for himself or share it with others, potentially bringing joy to many.
