Welcome to the 2nd Half of 2021! What Will the Next Six Months Hold for Us?

in WORLD OF XPILAR4 years ago

Somehow, it has gotten to be July already!

When I was a kid — as I am sure holds true for many of us, as we remember our childhoods — I never understood what the adults were talking about when they said things like "time flies." After all, the last ten minutes of class on Friday afternoon felt more like half-a-lifetime!

Summer night skies...

Now that I am much older, I definitely "get it," with respect to the saying "time flies!" It seems almost unfathomable that it's already July!

July — at least for me — has always served as a symbolic statement that summer has really arrived, now.

Historically, my creativity has typically been at its annual low during the summer, and that's something I am trying to amend this year... it seems like all the restrictions we've had to deal with as a result of the pandemic has slowed down all parts of the year. I'm still trying to make sense of that, as I figured I would have plenty of time to be creative, when there were fewer opportunities to be out and about, but that has not happened.

Maybe I simply do better creative work when I feel under some sort of time pressure? I'm not too sure about that, as I tend to be a pretty laid back personality, to start with.

I'm going to give myself a little bit of a free pass, though: A lot of time did go into expanding our food garden, both last year and this... and that takes time.

We're not exactly "disaster preppers" waiting for the end of the world, but with the increased frequency of empty shelves in the supermarkets we just thought it would be a good idea to become a little less "food dependent" on the mainstream.

Besides, we have a really large freezer, so we might as well use it to its fullest... and home grown fruits and veggies simply taste better than those that have been picked, packed, shipped and stored over God knows how much time!

So, should I be setting goals for the second half of the year?

My main goal remains to just continue writing and blogging on a regular basis... trying to create diverse, original and hopefully interesting content on a daily basis. Of course, I have been far from successful at daily blogging... having only created a little over 200 posts since March 2020 when the "split" happened.

But still, that's pretty decent... as everything I write is created from scratch or — in a few rare cases — are almost complete rewrites of 10+ year old articles that have "evergreen" topics, but needed some updating. In all cases, the writing is all mine!

So are all the photos, by the way... I'm always taking pictures of various things!

As I write this, I have about 7,280 SP staked. I'd like to think I could reach 10,000 by the end of the year, but that might be a bit of a tall order. 2,720 more Steem? That'll require a lot of dedicated effort... but I guess I might as well "aim high." I started the year with 5,773 SP so my stake has increased by a little over 1,500SP so far... so it's going to require faster growth.

Ah well, a worthy challenge!

Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!

How about YOU? Does it feel like "time flies?" Do you have any particular goals for the second half of 2021... either personal, or here on Steemit? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

I find that time flies faster the older I get. There has especially been a lot of time flying by during this pandemic. I can't believe that it is already July. Soon it will be 2030 I guess.
