Bargain Alert - 24 cans of Guinness for €15 - Yes please!
Bargain
Who doesn't like a good bargain? I certainly do and the Supermarkets here in Ireland always do good specials in the lead up to Christmas. Some have got to be loss leaders, where they sell below cost or at cost so as to attract you in to spend money on other items while you're there. I was buying a few bits and pieces in Tesco the last day and when I saw 24 cans of Pint sized Guinness cans for €15, I could'nt leave them behind!
They were the ones with the widget too. Always go for the ones with the widget when you're buying draught Guinness in a can. Hmmm that sounds like a contradiction- oh well. Also avoid the 500ml cans, as these won't fill a pint glass all the way to the top and looks wrong. I'm a firm believer that how something looks effects the taste, so you want a nice pint of Guinness, not 500ml.
Here they are taking pride of place in the fridge at home. Now for the taste test. Are they up to scratch? Well, you'll never get a pub quality pint at home to be fair, but I must admit, this wasn't a million miles off. I got a pretty damn good head on it too, as you'll see below.
The Perfect Pint
These will keep me and our visitors going over the festive season. Guinness is a nice Winter drink for me and also red wine, I'm a big fan of Spanish and Italian wines. What's your own tipple of choice at Christmas?
