The environment here is really nice—far from the city’s hustle and bustle, and the roads are quite a distance away. The trees and grass on both sides are so green, and the lake water is clear. Even the water hyacinths that used to thrive when the water quality was poor are gone. All we see by the water are some tiny bowl lotus plants, which shows the water quality is excellent. Every now and then, we spot a few waterbirds diving their heads into the shallow water to catch small fish—so cute!

Along the path, there are these huge flowers that look like either peonies or roses. I think they’re called "lollipop roses." They’re blooming like crazy, each flower bigger than a fist. These are pretty common in Wuhan.

As we walked, we kept spotting unknown plants and took photos of each one to ask AI what they were. By the way, AI apps these days are super convenient. Using AI to take photos and identify plants is way better than the old "Scan to Encyclopedia" feature on 360 or Huawei browsers. Back then, when we used those web versions to scan and identify things, it often showed the wrong plant. AI is much more accurate—it gets it right over 90% of the time!

We passed a wild fruit tree with fruits that looked exactly like the black mulberries we buy at the supermarket, but these were light red or yellow. Not sure if they were mulberries, we quickly scanned them with the app—and they were!

We picked a small handful of wild mulberries to take home. Online says you just wash them and they’re safe to eat, plus they’re nutritious. Near the shore, in damp, shady spots, we found lots of snakeberries—those tiny, bright red wild strawberries.

Why do they grow here? Because it rained in Wuhan again a couple of days ago. After any rain, whether heavy or light, these wild strawberries tend to grow in damp areas along the shore. I wonder if you have these where you live?

Looking back on the walk, the natural scenery in the wetland park was so relaxing. Waterbirds, wildflowers, wild fruits—everywhere we looked, there were surprises. Every time we used AI to identify a plant, it was like unlocking a new natural trivia fact.

When picking mulberries, we made sure to choose the brightest, plumpest ones, planning to take them home for a taste. Snakeberries may look cute, but we heard they’re not safe to eat, so we just admired them from a distance.

Strolling along the tree-lined path, listening to the wind and birds, and breathing in the scent of grass and trees—it felt like nature had healed our whole minds. What a cozy and fulfilling weekend!
