I think it is pretty safe to say that one day we will be able to create robots that will be virtually indistinguishable from us. It is not a matter of if but when. As Elon says, any continuous progress, no matter how small, leads to big results given sufficient amount of time.

That being said, it is a no-brainer that one day, robots coupled with highly advanced artificial intelligence systems, will be as if not more capable than us. Given enough time, they may actually become sort of a parallel civilisation to us humans.

This would mark a really important event in history because till now, only nature has created and evolved species. But breaking the mould, humanity would have created an entirely new and intelligent 'species' all on its own.

So, if we humans can do it at some point in the future, who's to say that the same thing wasn't done to us? Could it be that some highly intelligent race created us as robots in the distant past and left us to evolve on our own?

Human Beings - Biological Robots?

Now, you might be wondering. We know for a fact that we are made of bones, muscles, blood and other biological elements, so how in the heck can we be robots? But think about this. Who's to say that robots can only be made of metal, plastic and silicon?

That is our idea of what a robot is and how it should be build. An alien intelligent race could have had a different idea of what a robot could be and they might have used bones, muscles and other stuff to build one. From their standpoint, it could be a mechanical creation, but since this is all we've known, to us it is biological.

Let's take a look at how the human body functions. Signals travel from all over the body to the brain. The different sense organs can be considered as input devices and our brains can be considered the central processing unit. As for emotions and feelings, well they are merely chemical reactions happening in the brain and who's to say that these couldn't have been programmed in as well.

Also, if you take a look at the structure of the DNA, doesn't it look to be intelligently designed? I mean, consider how life came be to on the planet. A bunch of non-living elements like hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen and others, came together to form a living, self-sustaining and reproducing organism. Isn't that one of the craziest realisations? And yet, that's true.

So, could an alien race have had a hand in our creation, either directly or indirectly? Could life on Earth have been brought from out there in space? What would that mean for us and for life itself? Something to ponder.
