TS Contest | My unplanned journey.
Have you ever gone on a journey that wasn't planned and came really urgent? If yes, tell us about the scenario. If not, do you ever wish to attend such a journey?
Yes, I remember when I was in Kano State for my National Youth Service Corps when the Federal Government ordered every corps member to go to their various destinations, which occurred as a result of COVID-19 diseases outbreak. At first, we didn't want to go, but most of the students who stayed together in the same place had returned to their various states due to an ongoing strike. We were the only ones in the hostel, so this unplanned journey happened. We quickly packed our clothes in luggage bags. Around 5:00 PM, we went to the motor park to board the bus that could carry us to our state of residence. When the bus was full of passengers, we left at night.
Tell us about your overall experience during the trip?
I think we paid 8,000 naira, which is equivalent to 32 steem, for transportation fees. We paid by hand to the driver, but now things have changed. If you want to visit the northern side, you will spend like 30,000 naira, which is about 120 steem or more. The 8,000 naira was for transportation fees only. Before our bus moved on, I purchased 2,000 naira worth of onions for my family because onions were too cheap over there. As our driver began the journey, we stopped at Mokwa in Niger State to have any food of our choice.
Their food is amazing although I ate my Yórúbá food which is one of the popular tribe in Nigeria. The most funniest thing is that when one Hausa man cough continuously I began to scared may be it had affected but I later realized that it's a normal cough. Some of us also bought kulikuli and dokwa for their relatives when they arrived home. Kulikuli and dokwa is very sweet and it's best thing I will always request for whenever I have opportunity to visit that side.
Do you intend to ever go for any unplanned journey again?
I can't say because life rotates on a daily basis. We don't have options; it will happen in some cases, especially if it's an urgent matter we need to attend. For example, some people are called from their village because their father or mother is very sick, but they need their attention immediately. They don't have a choice but to visit and check on the health of their parents. I may go for an unplanned journey because life is full of challenges; only those who can withstand the risk survive.
Additionally, If I apply for government contracts in Lagos and I am living in Kwara, I have already submitted my proposal. In fact, I even forgot, and it's been more than a month since I submitted my proposal. One day their boss told me that my proposal has been approved and my attention is needed immediately. I will leave whatever I am doing because we are talking about money.
Is it important to prepare very well before going for a journey? Tell us why

Planning our journey very well is important, especially if we know how to save time, handle stress, and have enough money when we want to embark on a journey. Travel preparations are things we must do to make our journey interesting and to prepare ourselves for any unexpected obstacles that may come our way. It is essential to thoroughly research the place we are going. Keep in mind that you are going to a country where their culture is different from yours. So, understand cultural differences and don't be surprised.
It is necessary to book your flight and accommodations as early as possible, especially if you are going for a tour or as a tourist because it's normally filled with a lot of people. Make photocopies of your credentials, organize them accordingly. Snap pictures of your documents on your phone and save them in your email as a backup because incomplete credentials will deny you an entry. So, we must take this seriously.
I would like to invite @berda01, @rossnenye and @ruthjoe to participate in this contest.
