Mega Man X5 Masochist Challenge Part 11: Purple Clusterfuck
The hardest segment so far, and it's not even close. And I have a bit of mouthful as to why.
First of all, there's the absolute clusterfuck of those Ride Armor enemies that I have no choice to but shoot down before moving forward - save for the one at the beginning that is possible to clear with some damn specific movement. And by damn specific, I really mean damn specific.
Other than that one, I wasn't able to find a way to get around them without taking damage. So I'm stuck tap dancing around their projectiles while hoping to blow them up before they manage to land a hit on me.
Another thing that really stumped for a long time is the last set of spiked crushers.
The timing involved in making it past them is quite finicky. If I moved in too quickly, they got locked into a pattern that made it impossible to get through. And for a while, I thought that it would be the case. I legitimately felt like I wouldn't come up with a way to prevent damage.
But it's not like I was playing X6 yet, so I kept trying, and by sheer accident realized that if I just wait a while, the crushers give me a more favorable pattern.
The stage doesn't give up that easily, though, and the last stretch just goes balls out in the lunacy. In addition to the Ride Armor enemies, there are just so many projectiles moving in my position from all angles that good ole memorization was the only way through this. Quick reaction times were not going to be of much use.
After the lunacy, it's on to Rangda Bangda 2.0.
And it's nice to see Rangda back. This challenge does stretch out the fight a lot longer than it has any need to be.
The reason I keep myself from destroying the nose while the walls are out, is because when the nose is destroyed, and the walls stay out, it becomes literally impossible to dodge shots from the eyes.
So, I need to play for time until I have the eyes taken care of. I do put in a few shots here and there, but I still make sure I don't destroy the nose.
All in all, Rangda's a fun fight. It's just that every failure at Rangda meant I needed to re-do the agony that was the stage itself, which made it less fun.
Next up is the coolest boss battle in the series.

I love the music here, so if it takes 2312073 years to beat, I'm fine with it. Good moves, too.
Yeah, I agree. I never got bored of it. I like most of the music in X5 and X6. In X4, I got bored of the tunes in certain segments.
Although Ground Scaravich is something I'm not looking forward to.
A) Because it's the one tune in X6 I don't like.
B) Because it's going to take close to a million attempts and I know it already.
Also, thanks, friend!
