This tree situated in Modjadjiskloof South-Africa has reached levels of fame for various reasons, here are a few;
- The Sunland ‘Big Baobab’ is famous internationally for being the widest of its species in the world.
- This is a tree that symbolises Africa.
- This tree is Carbon dated at more than 1700 years old.
- And of course it was a cover model for the Wall Street Journal!
Now what is more amazing than that, is that when a Baobab tree reaches the age of 1000 years plus, they start hollowing out in the middle. This forms a cave like structure within the cave. as you can see on the image above.
The Sunland Baobab tree houses a fully furnished bar on the inside of its hollow.
There are quite a few baobab trees in South-Africa that holds space on the South-African tourism board, however this one must be one of the most unique!
