Virtual Competition with a Steemian on the Steem Pong Retro Game
Okay, guys, gaming is all about competition. When there's no competition, there's no fun. While still waiting for the game creators to add sounds to Steem pong, I decided to make it lively myself by playing with a fellow Steemian while listening to music. It was damn fun.
I started this concept today, and we'll continue this for a period of 2 weeks to see if we can beat the highest score of 2k plus. I wonder how people get there. Anyways, the secret is purchasing tokens, and this really helps bring one back from the dead to life.

So today, I decided to pick a random Steemian who plays games as well and then hit up with him on the WhatsApp social media platform. From there, we discussed at length and decided to hold the challenge. He said he wants to challenge me and that I've been known for winning other games on steemit. He said he'd love to break my record if I go with him all in....... Such a challenge...😁 I accepted the challenge, and boom, I created a virtual space for us to play this game without cheating.
The screenshots below show how we started. This is just to test the virtual space in case we encounter any challenges in screen sharing and visibility. Everything was clear and perfect. To this course, I decided to play along and create a flyer to make it more official.
The flyer includes a picture of @bettymikki and me ready to challenge each other. There's a date on the flyer, and the name of the game is shown. Let me just highlight the specifications. As a gamer in the Steem Pong game, I came up with a name called Ponger. If you're playing the Steem pong game, you're a Ponger.
Name | Ponger 1 | Ponger 2 |
---|---|---|
Username | @bossj23 | @bettymikki |
Nickname | Tunner | Ex-convict |
So this is the beginning of an end, as I may fall it. We started off on fair play, then we hit differently. I'll be sharing my game experience and then announcing the winner of today's pong game.

Game Experience |
---|
Like I said, playing the Steem pong game is interesting when you apply carefulness. It's always annoying when you see your lives run as if it's water. This was the best gaming experience I ever had since I started playing this game. Why? Because I had a physical competitor I could interact with virtually. I'll see his mistakes and strength in the game. It's not like in Hari Raid; you need to hide your strategy from another so they won't top you on the leaderboard.
How many lives do you have and how do you plan on conserving your lives this round?
For the purpose of this competition, I was more carefree than when playing alone. I had a total of 10 lives, and I was as careful as a bird so as not to lose any life immediately until I entered the peak of the game. Anyways, you can't predict how to save your lives. You'll definitely lose it before you reach a 700 score. Why? The bar you're using and how you tap the ball explain everything. If it hits the wrong place, expect your ball to go parabolic, giving you difficulty determining where the ball will land.
I was observant in this and tried my best not to make my ball hit the edge of the ball.
How was the initial play of the game? How did you start?
The initial play was quite frantic. I could see the dull movement of the ball to the bar, making me enjoy the ride until the ball started speeding. I made sure the ball hit the base of the bar to avoid unnecessary bounce.
What strategies did you use to avoid making the ball fall off your bar?
I applied a rule in mathematics and physics, which is the angle of inclination. When a ball is inclined on a plane, it will definitely refract or bend. So if I notice my ball will bounce sideways, I ensure I follow the ball to the angle it will land. It all depends on which part of the wall it hits. Whatever angle it hits, just be ready to draw the inclination on your head and take your bar there.
How did you feel after losing 2 lives?
I felt bad and annoyed because it wasn't intentional. I didn't even know when I lost 2 lives because it was just moving fast and bouncing hard. It was enough motivation for me to protect the remaining 8 lives.
How did you feel after losing 7 lives?
Hope wasn't lost after losing 7 lives because I still had 3 left. I just had to protect the 3 lives, preventing it from falling off completely from the bar.
How did you feel after you lost your whole life? Did you feel dead or conquered?🤣🤣🤣
I felt dead and conquered because I was literally approaching a thousand points. You know that feeling when you're close to the finish line and then you have a cramp in your leg that stops you from touching the line? The feeling is different......
What's your lowest and highest score?
My lowest score was 400+, and my highest is 800+. I beat my score of 700+. This 800+ is a new record I attained. My opponent scored 323 as his high score.

What big mistake did you make while playing?
The big mistake I made was allowing distractions to cloud my mind and also allowing my ball to hit the edge of the bar, making it difficult to determine the ball's next move.
Do you think this game requires focus and swift?
Yeah, the game needs swiftness and your ability to determine the next move of the ball using the angle it got struck.

Playing this game was a fun experience for me, to be honest. My opponent gave up after countless tries but couldn't beat my high score. This is the first stage. I'm looking forward to integrating at least 10 players to make it a tournament. The winner plays while the loser is evicted from the tournament.

Interesting competition. It's good to promote healthy competition among Steemite users to support the games developed on the platform. Concentration in this game is important, as is the use of calculations to determine the position where the ball might land.
Thank you for supporting Ping-Pong.
True and this makes it all fun....no one drags or envy others. Thanks for this
Maybe you can promote this method, and play against @us-andrew, @mr-peng, among others.
