Greetings

Good day academy, This week we had a more hands-on topic, Scalability in Blockchain. The homework task was for students to try out the Tron Blockchain and Binance Smart Chain, make comparisons to the Bitcoin blockchain and finally, suggest the best possible solutions to the blockchain scalability problems. Let’s see how we did.

Statistics

Prior to this past week, we have had from over 170 to over 250 submitted and remarked assignment posts. That was not the case this week. There was a 70% drop in the number of entries, and it happened to be the week I introduced a practical approach. I do not believe this is a coincidence. Here is the performance

Score12345678910plagiarized/invalid
No of Entries0034816116982

Average score = 6.05
Mode Score = 5

I have to commend the students this week, no plagiarism was found. Keep up the good work.

Common Mistakes

As expected, a few mistakes were made by students, that is what makes us all students, we keep learning, but one seemed to occur more than others so let me address it.

Now I asked us to make transactions on the Binance Smartchain and Tron Blockchain. A great number of students mistook the Binance Exchange for the Binance Smart Chain.

The Binance Exchange is a platform that allows you to execute transactions on different blockchain. Before sending or receiving a coin, you fill in some data, and although it is filled by default, the blockchain platform to use is part of these data.

I decided to perform the task myself, to show students what was expected of them

Tron Blockchain

This was done from TronLink, it supports only transactions on the tron blockchain so this was straight forward.

  • First I filled in the address from a TRC20 (Tron Blockchain) wallet address and sent 10 Trx to my Binance

  • Next I checked up on the transaction on tronscan. As you can see, it was successful but not yet confirmed by required number of blocks

  • 13:00:39
Less than 39seconds after I submitted the transaction, it was confirmed by 15 blocks, making it successful.

Binance Smart Chain

  • On the Binance Smart Chain, I used tron too, but take a close look at the box tagged NETWORK with Bep20 (Binance Smartchain) as the selected option. This means that while the token is tron, it will be carried out on the BSC instead of tron blockchain.

  • 14:10
    The transaction has been submitted

  • 14:13
Three minutes later after 27 confirmations the transaction scaled through.

Top Three

A lot of students did well this week. There were ten 10 students scoring between 9-10 and many scoring about 9.5. You all did well, be that as it may, here is my top 3

Congratulations to everyone who learned and engaged in the task. You all are the reason why we work so hard. Seeing two new names on the top3 is encouraging and I implore everyone to put in their best. Have a great week
